Ecole Supérieure d'Art de la Réunion is the only French-speaking higher education art institution in the Indian Ocean region. It falls under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture and Communication and is approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research. The School prepares students for a National Degree in Fine Arts (Diplôme National d'Arts Plastiques, DNAP) and after 5 years for a National Postgraduate Degree in Fine Arts (Diplôme National Supérieur d'Expression Plastique, DNSEP).

Located at the crossroads of cultures and civilizations, between Africa, Asia and Europe, Ecole Supérieure d'Art de La Réunion is a melting pot reflecting the image of the island of La Réunion. Students past and present, artists, professors, instructors, cultural agents, amateur artists, lovers of culture… the school is a place of meetings, exchanges, exhibitions, conferences, seminars; it is a veritable laboratory of cultures for culture.

The goal of our teaching staff is to instil and nurture creativity, eloquence, critical thinking and an open mind in every student by using a pedagogy of creation by creating. Furthermore, the staff will support each student throughout their courses, both academic and practical, assisting them to discover and capitalize on their own talents and enabling them to build their future step by step.

A school that is a place of creation, of culture, of exchange

The ability to increase your skills comes not just from academic knowledge but also the sharing of experiences. Therefore Ecole Superieure d'Art de la Réunion invites its students to be open to every available opportunity.

Open to the city, to the island of La Réunion, to the Indian Ocean, to the world, the school is a place of exchange of ideas facilitated by a program of regular exhibitions, conferences and seminars which are all designed in partnership with different cultural bodies on the island (The Regional Fund for Contemporary Art, l'Artothèque, The Regional Centre for Educational Documentation…).

Ecole Supérieure d'Art de La Réunion is ever mindful of students' future employability and constantly seeks to actively develop exchanges with cultural agents and the artistic professions. This is evidenced by the existing relationships with major events that take place in the territory. Whether the event is based around visual art, a live spectacle or a musical creation, it gives students the opportunity to apply their knowledge, to confront the public eye, and generally integrate contemporary art with city life (The International Film Festival of Africa and the Islands, The Tempo Festival, A Night of Art in Full Moon, the Departmental Theatre…)

Finally, as part of their studies, students also benefit from sessions of reflexion and group experimentation via workshops with contemporary artists known nationally (Julien Blaine, Jean Baptiste Farkas, Thierry Fontaine, Joël Hubaut…) and internationally (Newton Aduaka, Alexeev Artem,...).

Ecole Supérieure de l'Art de La Réunion has the capacity to grant the following nationally recognised degrees:

DNAT (only by way of recognition of prior learning, V.A.E.)
